Almost 1k posts, and on the board since 2009. Not a total noob. Amazing how complacent we can become sometimes. And thats when Murphy bends you over.
1) Not Safetly Checked.
2) Pointed at something I would be unwilling to destroy/definitely not a "safe direction"
3) Booger hooks on the bang switch.
Three strikes and he's lucky he didn't bleed out.

1. First and foremost, definitely not safety checked. Any firearm should be unload when you're working on it. Double, triple, quadruple check to make sure it's clear.
2. Definitely not pointed in a safe direction. Should have put it against the table (he was worried about dropping the slide onto the ground since he was taking it apart).
3. Unfortunately, some guns you have to pull the trigger in order to take the slide off. I'd much prefer that all of them weren't that way, but they are. That's where #1 comes into so much play.
Glad he's ok, and hopefully he'll learn and be wiser from it. Also, hopefully from him showing what happens when you have your head up yourand be negligent, that bad things can and will happen, and that people will learn something from it too.
