A MUST is Alamo Cafe off of 281. It is excellent and to die for.

One of our favorite places here is the El Chaparral Restaurant - Helotes. My wife and her family have been going there since she was a little girl. We have been going there as a family for the last 11 years. My problem is that for the last 11 years, I have NEVER ordered anything other than the beef fajitas, they are great. They also give you a little complimentary bowl of borracho (spelling?) beans, along with excellent chips and salsa. The link I am including isn't their permanent site, if you google them it say's "Under construction". They also have a new location out in Boerne. If you go on a Friday or Saturday evening, there is a good chance you will have a wait, but just get a margarita and enjoy the evening.

Just got back from this place, hands down best customer service Ive ever had in a restaurant. Pricey but well worth it, a special occasion kind of place. About $50 bucks a head with a bar drink each. Huge upscale salad bar, with some awesome cold blanched asparagus. You each get a card and flip it from red to green when you want meat items. Carvers come by with meat on swords and slice you off a serving. Lamb chops, bacon wrapped filet mingon and chicken breast, prime rib, beef backstrap, lamb roast, pork tenderloin, etc etc, all cooked to perfection. Definitely a meat eaters kinda place. Upscale and fun atmosphere. Our server asked us if it was our first time here and if it was a special occasion, we told him it was our 1 year anniversary he congratulated us and brought us out a complimentary creme brule with happy anniversary written on the place, totally cool, great servers. Left a nice tip. Had a Brazilian beer which was excellent.
