    Default Review: Sig P245

    sig review.jpg

    Model:P245
    Manufacturer:Sig Sauer
    New\Used:Used
    MSRP:$800
    Price Paid:$450
Extras(night sights, special trigger etc):Came with a Dragon Fire Ported barrel as well as the stock one. Ordered night sights to replace the stock ones.
    Rating (1-10):10
    Recommended:Yes
    Caliber:.45 ACP
    Capacity:6+1

    History:
The SIG P245 is a variant of it's larger cousin called the P220 which is a full sized
handgun of the same design and caliber. The design was directed primarily at the United States
for concealed carry and for a police backup weapon. With the reduced capacity and shortened grip
it is very easy to conceal in an outside the waistband configuration.
This model is no longer being
produced but a P220 Compact, and a P220 carry are very similar in design and have interchangeable parts.

First impressions: Used out of the box, it ran through 2 mags of Winchester PDX-1's
flawlessly and is my carry ammo of choice. The handgun is very accurate and even with the short grip
the pinky extension on the magazines makes it very comfortable to shoot.

Appearance: The fit and finish is very nice, nothing rattles or is loose, it
was obvious that this weapon has not been fired much prior to me purchasing it.

Features: DA/SA trigger, hammer drop lever to revert it back to SA, as with most SIG model's no manual safety is present, but it does have SIG's patented automatic firing pin block.

Performance: 300 FMJ rounds through it and 40 Winchester PDX-1's without a hiccup.

Issues: Magazines and exspensive and somewhat hard to come by locally, had to order online for extras

Maintenance: Field striping and cleaning is very simple and done without any tools.

Summary: Exactly what I wanted in a carry weapon, short grip for conceal-ability, excellent reliability and function as well as accuracy.

Good report Dcav. How did you find the recoil? That is a very light .45.

When I shot it, the recoil wasn't bad at all.
.45, because shooting twice is silly.

Very manageable. Follow up shots were right on target.
