Default How to grip a semi auto

How a shooter grips their semi auto is somewhat a personal thing, but needs to start with the fundamentals. The proper grip and technique will go a long way to help the new shooter master the pistol.

Here is a picture I snapped of Army1911 shooting his 1911 at our last meet. No big deal I thought until I looked closer at the picture, and dang, his grip and hold are near text book perfect. In addition to all of the comments I made on the picture, you can see he also brought the gun to eye level, and not the reverse of bringing his eye down to the gun level. A common mistake new shooters make which really hurts consistency.

If there is any doubt if this works, just check out Army's targets next time around.

Hope this will help some of the newer shooters.

I was watching Army1911, and Mr. and Mrs Navyguy shoot and they are the most accurate pistol shooters I have seen in any of our groups. Very impressive, thanks for sharing the info.

Note that this is a grip for semi-autos. Revolver grip is different. If anyone wants help, see me at the next shoot.

A well balanced breakfast being necessary to the health the society, the right of the people to keep and eat cereal shall not be infringed. Now does the cereal belong to the breakfast or the people?
NRA Life Member COTEP member #CBOB 035 By definition, Gun Conrol is all rounds on target.
I am still willing to shoot a Glock; just hang it up with the rest of the targets.
