    Default Carbureator Cleaner

Problem i am having on my Murray Riding mower is i can't seem to get any air thru the fuel line into the carb out. Which tells me it stopped up. Have soaked the lines with Super Tech carb. cleaner from Wally world. Nothing . Is there something better to use to do the job ? Have had this mower since 2000 and every year I let it burn the gas out before storing. This year I got turned around and forgot. Anyone here have any sound advice for a fix would be appreciated. Thanks.

Does it have an in line fuel filter and have you ever changed it.

I have a Honda 1048 I bought in 1985 and it has an in line filter.
It is a pain to get at but I have had to change it about 3 time over the years.
I even rebuilt the mower deck as I have a complete parts and maint. manuel.

Familys that shoot together have good fields of cover fire.

Yes sir..put in new plastic elbow that the fuel line goes into the carb., new fuel line and filter. Got fresh gas and it starts till the gas in Carb runs out. Bought a can of starting fluid so as to not use too much gas when attempting to start it. Have taken apart what I can see can be..am not too savvy with small engines...but try hard .

Sounds like the float is stuck. May have to take the carb off (might not if you can get to it ) and remove the fuel bowl. Use the carb cleaner to blow back through the fuel inlet and out where the fuel line comes into the carb. Make sure the float or needle valve is not stuck.

Have taken off fuel bowl. Cleaned it out. It has a needle like resistor that screws in the bottom of fuel bowl that is electrically connected. Cleaned it out cause it was hard to move up and down. I don't know
what else can be taken apart to clean without me messing it up worse.

OK that "coil" may be the fuel shut off selonoid. A electrically controlled valve that turns the fuel on and off. Check to see if you are getting power to the wires going to that coil. If not it could be the ign. switch is bad or maybe the low oil level switch is stuck too. ( or the oil level is too low) MG

Small engine carbs can be finnicky when stale gas invades. I would tear it down and clean every part. Take note of the mixture screw settings before removal. I do that by turning them in until they stop and count the turns in. During re-assembley turn them all the way in and back them out by the number of turns in. That should get you close enough that tiny adjustment might be all you need.

Ok..Thanks . Will check that out next. Never thought of that as I am not too savvy on Carbs. Probably will wind up buying that one particular item. The weather here being cold and froggy has got me pinned up in the house for now. That is 1st on my to do list as soon as I am able. Will eliminate one thing at a time from here. Thanks.

Tear it down like tey said above. Unless you stabilized the fuel and it has sat, you will get some gumming up in the smaller holes. They can cause big trouble when you try to run it again. Same as on motorcycles. We make it a bit of a point to stabilize our fuel, especially the gas cans that supply the small motors of the house.

As a last ditch, you can try running some Berryman's B12 through. It's a pretty strong fuel system cleaner. But that's just in hopes of keeping you from needing to tear down. Other than that, get our yer screw drivers :)
